USDA Reports Progress on Avian Flu as Egg Prices Drop

Secretary Rollins highlights strategy advancements in biosecurity, farmer relief, and research efforts.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins recently provided an update on the Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) strategy to combat highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) and reduce egg prices. Since implementing the five-pronged plan, wholesale egg prices have fallen nearly 50 percent. The department has expanded biosecurity measures, completing over 130 assessments at poultry facilities in 2025 and covering 75 percent of costs for high-risk improvements.

The USDA has also committed $100 million to avian flu research and vaccine development in collaboration with federal agencies including the CDC, NIH, and FDA. The funding prioritizes projects focused on developing treatments, strengthening biosecurity, and advancing vaccines. To further stabilize supply, USDA secured egg import agreements with Turkey and South Korea while reducing U.S. egg exports by eight percent.

“Egg prices are falling, farmers are getting the relief they need, and we are seeing meaningful progress in the fight against avian flu,” said Secretary Rollins. “USDA is making targeted investments and driving innovation to keep our food supply strong and affordable —delivering real results for American families and producers.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Rollins to seek God’s guidance as she heads the USDA.
  • For U.S. officials as they work to prevent avian flu and to stabilize egg prices.
